The BMW3 line-up has always consisted of a variety of cars that display the best in automotive engineering and design ideas. In 2006 the BMW3 series garnered a lot of respect, and this was when the 325i xDrive Sedan earned recognition as "Car of the Year". To many people the 325i is still considered to be the ultimate 4 door, sports sedan, and it continues to earn accolades even in 2009.

Engine Specifications:
Inline 6 cylinder design
215 HP @ 6100 RPM
199 foot/pounds Torque @ 2400-4200 rpm
22mpg in the city/ 38mpg on the highway
0-60 in 6.7 seconds
3 stage induction system
Turbo Diesel fuel system
Valvetronic Technology
24 valves with a dual overhead cam
Double VANOS System

Additional Specifications:
Optional Active Steering and Advanced Dynamic Stability Control Mods
Front and Rear ventilated disc ABS brakes
Electronically controlled water pump
16.5 gallon fuel tank
4 door design
6 Speed Automatic Transmission with overdrive
*The transmission design is known as STEPTRONIC and there are 3 driving modes to select.

    * Sport-for more powerful shifting options

• Drive- which utilizes the ATC(Adaptive Transmission Controls)
• Automatic- this option gives the driver the feel and control of a manual shift transmission without a clutch.
4 wheel independent suspension with xdrive /all wheel drive
Rear 5 beam/5 link suspension
Front Bucket seats

Measurements:
The BMW325i xdrive has an overall height of 55.9 inches and uses every possible centimeter in an efficient manner. The front seat driver and passenger can enjoy an impressive 38.5 inches of interior head room and rear passengers have 37.5 inches of headroom available. There is more than adequate legroom in the front as well, but very tall passengers might notice the legroom is slightly cramped in the back seat.

Overall:
The BMW 325i xDrive makes good use of the patented xDrive technology. This is the high tech engineering system that transfers power between wheels when the sensors find any slippery road conditions. The xDrive computers are able to prevent over/under steering by the driver and assist him in keeping the car under control. . This adds to the overall handling of the BMW 325i sedan, making it easy and smooth in a wide variety of conditions.

Safety Features
Safety features for this BMW model once again show careful thought and precision engineering. The car is designed for stability, safe handling and road control. You will also find that this car has 3 point safety belts and multiple airbags. Not only are there airbags in the dash for front seat occupants, BMW has made sure to include side impact airbags for an extra measure of security. There is even an inflatable HPS (Head Protection System) integrated into this sedan. The HPS design earned accolades for the company and the title of "Safe Car of the Millenium".

More Features
325i Sedans feature poplar wood trim and brushed aluminum fittings. The leather interior exudes luxury and style. Heated, power seats in the front are just one of the many features that will tempt you. This car comes with halogen headlights that utilize the 4 ring lighting system, and fog lights are also standard.

Vehicle and key memory are both conveniences that BMW owners can appreciate. In addition this automobile offers anti-theft motion sensors. The car has automatically controlled running lights for daytime driving and at night the Pathway Lighting sensors will keep the headlights on for 40 seconds after the engine has been switched off.

The interior temperatures are all controlled automatically and can be adjusted to maximize the comfort of each passenger. There is also an ARC (automatic recirculation control) which has sensors to detect specific air pollutants like carbon monoxide. If one of the programmed air pollutants is detected the ARC closes the outside vents and will re-circulate the air on the interior of the BMW. There are also dual air filters which are able to dramatically reduce the level of dust, odors, molds and bacteria in the air that is being cycled from the outside environment.

The BMW 325i xDrive sedan also has a number of standard features that are generally considered to be options on many other vehicles. This is due in large part on the BMW Company's focus on both sportiness and luxury.

Final thoughts:

The sporty interior design and superb handling characteristics of the xDrive system make this luxury sedan an enjoyable driving experience. Cornering and maneuverability is a delight and the car is able to hold its own when matched against a variety of higher priced competitors. The power and responsiveness of the BMW 325i is never lacking, yet it seems to constantly deliver an average of 20-25 mpg.
This car can hold up to 5 people comfortably and has enough trunk room to store your suitcases when you head off for a family holiday. If you are looking for an auto that combines exciting performance, reliability and sporty looks the 2006 BMW325i will be a perfect choice.

The Hummer H2 could be a dying breed of high class, large framed, utility vehicles. Made by General Motors since 2003, it's a heavy duty and high class, full sized SUV class vehicle that can do 0 to 60 in 8.2 seconds and had an MSRP of over $54,000 in 2008. For 2009, 1300 units of the Black Chrome Limited Edition version of the truck were released and then General Motors sold the Hummer line as part of its reorganization. Nonetheless, it still is a popular SUV because if you have ever driven one, you will know it is more about fun, than fuel efficiency.

The primary problem for the Hummer H2 was gas mileage at 8.6 to 12 miles to the gallon, although it gets better than the Hummer H1, which is slightly longer and taller. Unless of course you change the airflow mapping to increase the air to fuel ration as I have done on H2. No matter it is still competitive with the popular Cadillac Escalade, despite the fuel price spikes and it is more for those that like adventure, with a sense of prestige.

Resale might not be the greatest-previous year's models were found to lose 40% of their value if they were 2 or 3 years old, because of the decline in large SUV popularity due to gas prices, but since prices have come back down, the power and traction make it a driving experience that not many other vehicles can give you, especially on the off-road. However resale is not usually an issue for a committed H2 owner, because most of them will keep it until either it dies or they do.

For those that want a rugged, massive truck frame for the off road vehicle experience, it doesn't get better than a Hummer H2. While it is popular as an on-road passenger vehicle that can hold six passengers very comfortably, including the driver, the four wheel drive traction and the 6.2 Liter V8 engine give it the strength and toughness to take on the most challenging courses off-road.

It shares the same platform as the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon, but the final frame assembly is a combination of 3 sections utilizing the 2500 series utility frame for the front, a modified 1500 series frame for the rear and a new, completely boxed mid-section, to support the 8,600 gross vehicle weight.

For those that are Hummer fans, the Hummer H2 is still popular, despite the 61% sales plunge that GM saw last year in the Hummer line. The 2009 Hummers also feature an H3T or Pickup truck model.

With the new 2009 Hummer H2 you will find that it comes standard with a power sunroof, and safety features like head curtain airbags for all three rows, panic brake assist, tire pressuring monitoring, electronic stability control with roll migration, OnStar and Blue Tooth wireless capability.

Sadly in June 2009 General Motors sold the Hummer line to a Chinese Industrial Machinery company. However the good news is that the Chinese Company, Tengzhong had said they plan to continue the Hummer brand's heritage, which is "synonymous with adventure, freedom and exhilaration". It could be that they have discovered the niche market that loves the Hummer H2-the people in search of these feelings, who are not necessarily worried about the price of fuel or the price of the Hummer H2.

So is the fact that the Hummer H2 will continue to be offered by a Chinese Machinery company really good news? The upside is that the price may come down on the Hummer, as is known to happen with may products where manufacturing has gone to China - but does that also mean that the H2 itself will also suffer from quality? Only time will tell.

This unique four, five or six passenger sport utility truck offers versatility with a long wheel base like the Chevy Suburban and Cadillac Escalade, but it has an open pickup-up truck bed that features a midgate, which opens to the back seat with a folding panel and removable rear window when you need more hauling space. It features locking flip-top, self-draining ice chests behind each wheel-well that can be used for storage or stocked with your favorite beverages or camping food. The second generation GMT900 Avalanche went into production in 2007 that still has the mid-gate construction.

With a powerful Vortec V8 engine, it now features 'Active fuel management' that deactivates four of the eight cylinders, to make it more fuel-friendly. The Chevrolet Avalanche was originally marketed for the ability to change from a pickup truck to an SUV through closing the large plastic bed cover and utilizing the configuration of the mid-gate and removable back window.

It is a versatile pickup truck, especially considering its characteristic versatility in fuel economy or power hauling, pick-up truck or SUV and its ability to survive through the automotive changes that have hit the Pickup/SUV market and the American automakers from the price spikes in gas prices.

In an effort to continue to offer the full size luxury that Americans want in a pickup or SUV with the option to save fuel costs, the Chevrolet Avalanche is still a great deal with an MSRP that starts at $35,460. It comes in 8 different trim model and options packages with seven of them under the $45,000 mark and only one the goes slightly over.

According to Edmonds, "it is one of the more versatile vehicles on the road today. It successfully blends the comfort and passenger capacity of an SUV with the cargo flexibility of a pickup truck." That is exactly the market that General Motors has been hoping to capture with this unique design.

The removable wall the separates the cabin and the bed is something unique, but some don't like the limited vision and blind spots, which can make it hard to maneuver in tight spots. There is a little bit of work involved in the mid-gate/removable back window configuration, but most Chevrolet Avalanche owners like the flexibility anyway.

Both models of the Vortec V8 engine come in six speed transmissions, whether you choose the standard 5.3 liter, 310 horsepower or the optional 6.0 liter with 366 horsepower. It has predictable handling for a workhorse pickup but has a smooth and comfortable ride with precise steering, considering the massive, full-size.

Perhaps, General Motor's biggest mistake with its full size line of vehicles, including the Chevrolet Avalanche, was the fact they had not anticipated the huge increase in fuel prices that would make them almost unaffordable to drive.

To the fans of the Chevrolet Avalanche, it seems that most of them need the versatility and can't go without a work truck and the comfortable riding SUV combination, no matter what fuel prices are. The new 'Active Fuel Management' system certainly makes it a more affordable option for those that love everything else about it,

One of the exceptional Chrysler automotive models is the 2009 Chrysler 300C sedan. The stylish lines and overall design give this car a sleek, luxurious look that is both appealing and satisfying to a wide variety of auto enthusiasts. With a great combination of power, performance and class this car can deliver the versatility, comfort and dependability that any driver could desire.

Engine Specs
The Chrysler 300 can be ordered with a gas saving V6 engine or a strong SRT8, but the 300c includes the Hemi V8 that gives this car model outstanding speed and performance. This V8 design is able to match and surpass the power and reliability presented by most of the competition, even those engines in the Mercedes and BMW line-up.
5.7L V8
360hp @5150 rpm
389 lb/foot torque @ 4250 rpm
16 mpg city/25 mpg highway
Gasoline system
OHV- valve configuration design

Additional Specifications
This Canadian produced automobile is considered to be a luxury model and comes equipped with
• Rear wheel drive
• 4 Wheel Anti-Lock Braking System
• Front and Rear Disc Brakes
• Capacious 19 gallon fuel tank
• 4 door design that seats 5 adults comfortably
• 5 speed automatic transmission with overdrive
• Independent front and rear coil spring suspension, and
• Rack and Pinion steering

Measurements
This spacious car has an exterior height of nearly 5 feet, and the headroom for the driver and front passenger is an impressive 38.7 inches. Rear passengers need not worry because they have 38 inches of headroom which can easily accommodate even individuals who are well over 6 feet in height. Legroom is not an issue either because the Chrysler 300C allows 41.8 inches in the front of the vehicle and 40.2 inches for rear passengers. Shoulder room measures 59.4 inches across the front seat and 57.7 inches across the width of the rear.

Driver Assessment
The 2009 Chrysler 300C is a larger vehicle but it is amazingly responsive. This makes it easy to handle or park, even in tight situations. It handles exceptionally well when you put it through its paces and even switchback turns and quick cornering are no problem. The car remains well balanced and both drivers and passengers are able to enjoy a smooth and comfortable riding experience.

The solid feel of this car makes it a pleasure to drive in any type of situation. It is able to deliver a solid performance on rough roads, and provides strong power for steep climbs. Even rain or snow presents no real challenges or problems and the Bosch brakes are always able to stop the vehicle smoothly and quickly.

The higher seating design adds a unique look, as well as a heightened feeling of security. Overall the exterior design is extremely pleasing, and it reminds many auto buffs of the classic lines seen in the Bentley or RR models. The front windshield is wide and sweeping which enhances the visibility for both driver and occupants. The large front grille is distinctive and never fails to attract attention from the public. It signifies power, prestige and luxury, and this car delivers in all of these areas.

Pricing and Final Thoughts
The 2009 Chrysler 300C has a recommended sticker price of about $37,000 which makes it one of the more affordable luxury vehicles on today’s market. The invoice cost is listed at $34,500. This Chrysler product has benefited from the company’s association with Mercedes-Benz. The soundness of the design and the remarkable performance are those that you would expect Mercedes to produce. When you compare the price points, features and cost of the 300C to those of a Mercedes or BMW model the value savings are very obvious.

The GMC branch of General Motors came out with the GMC Envoy at about the same time they were going to re-design the popular Jimmy model and ultimately replaced the Jimmy with the Envoy in 2002. It is in the mid-sized, full-sized overlap class of SUV, similar to the Chevy Blazer. Available in rear wheel or four-wheel drive models, it comes with a 4.2 liter 6 cylinder engine or a 5.3 liter 8 cylinder engine, and a 4 speed automatic transmission. The GMC Envoy will be phased out after the 2009 model year.

Of course, much of this has to do with the re-tooling of General Motors, rather than the performance of the Envoy. Of course, the Chevy Trailblazer counterpart is being phased out, too and they are going to be replaced with the GMC Acadia, seven-passenger or in 2010, with the GMC Terrain Crossover SUV.

Of course, with the changes at General Motors, and the push for smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles, many of the large and mid-sized SUVs are shaking in their 'wheel-boots'. No SUV model line seems to be sacred in these classes, even though fuel prices are down. Estimated EPA fuel economy in the Vortec 4.2 liter, 6-cylinder is 14 in city driving and 20 on the highway, which isn't out of line for this size of vehicle.

With all kinds of optional equipment packages like the DVD entertainment package, or Bluetooth to choose from a few things come standard, such as fog lamps, body color grille with chrome accents, the Interior 'quiet' package, and the 4.2-liter, 6-cylinder engine. With a five-star side-impact crash test rating and an MSRP starting at $30,625, it is in line with the rest of its competitors in most areas.

Of course, this is still a General Motors vehicle that is similar to the other GM vehicles in this class, including the Trailblazer and many have always questioned the viability of GMC competing against Chevrolet with very similar vehicles to begin with. It is in the popular mid-sized SUV that families like, and it is a five-passenger vehicle with 80 cubic feet of cargo capacity, that provides enough space for luggage and a family of four.

It doesn't have the third row seating option that larger families like, so that would explain why it is being replaced with the 7 passenger GMC Acadia or Terrain Crossover vehicle in 2010.

The 5.3 liter Vortec 8 cylinder option engine allows the GMC Envoy to save fuel by deactivating cylinders to take it to the six-cylinder fuel efficiency, when the extra power is not needed. The GMC Envoy with the V8 capability offers the power that can make it fun and powerful to drive but it has the fuel efficiency that those on a budget and the environmentally conscious are concerned about.

The GMC Envoy seems to be a good mid-sized SUV, but obviously, not quite good enough to survive the model slashing that is going on at General Motors, so if you want one, you had better hurry.

Mercedes Benz has been around for years and each year they surpass even their own expectations with the automobiles produced. For example the new Mercedes Benz 2010 E-class has a new aero-dynamic design that overwhelms other luxury class cars; with wrap-around LED tail-lights and LED Daytime running lights with squared-off twin headlamps. Such features as the aggressively styled front end with the chrome polished grill and "Mercedes" emblem, sunroof, double-stitched, hand-polished leather, and wood grain interior accents, let you know these are classic Mercedes vehicles.

You can get this car in 5-passenger, 4-door sedans or 4 passenger, 2-door coupes, depending on how many people you want to transport. One of the greatest benefits of this car is the sensors that help with your rear view vision in blind spot areas, so it's like having eyes in the back of your head. This kind of technology is just one of the reasons the Mercedes Benz E-Class vehicles is able to out-class the competition.

The family version is the 5-passenger sedan. It is a full sized luxury sedan with 268 horsepower, V6 engine or 382 horsepower V8 engine options and a 7 speed automatic transmission. There is also a 4-passenger sport coupe version that has the same engine choices and a standard panorama sunroof. No matter which model you choose, you are going to find that they are redesigned inside and out. The two E-Class models are the E350 and E550 in either sedan or sport coupe options.

With such features as "Airmatic" air suspension on the E550, "Agility Control" suspension on the E350 and 17 or 18 inch alloy wheels on the sedans, or staggered 5 spoke wheels on the sport coupe, they are a comfortable ride in high-powered Mercedes fashion.

The E-class started in 1947 and they have remained the most successful line of luxury sedans ever since. Their futuristic features and designs are what have made them a tradition. The 2010 Mercedes Benz E-Class is a couple of great cars that promise more of the same.

They have the optional 4Matic all-wheel drive technology and standard electronic stability control. Even though you are driving a luxury sedan, you feel like you are driving a race-car with practicality in bad weather.

Of course, the safety first technology is most impressive with 9 airbags, the "Attention Assist" driver drowsiness monitor, the optional "Distonic Monitoring" and "PreSafe Brake" system that automatically maintains following distance in cruise control and initiates emergency braking.

It uses some of the most advanced technology for driving safety in a luxury sedan today. Mercedes Benz has always been known for their great engineering and design, and the E-class shows it beautifully.

With the new "Comand" system that has a 7 inch LCD display, which comes standard and the standard Bluetooth interface for hands-free calling, it offers uncommon conveniences and addresses other entertainment options like iPod/MP3 media interface, SIRIUS Satellite Radio and rear seat entertainment system.

The 2010 Mercedes Benz E-class ranked top in comparison racing with the BMW550i and a Jaguar XF. With the quickest 0 to 60 in 5.3 seconds, and the quarter mile run at 103.5 mph in 13.6 seconds, it was the best in the group, due to the largest displacement engine with the most torque because of the 7 speed transmission, but it also got the best fuel economy at 19.3 mpg. What more could you ask for?

Perhaps known as one of the original full-sized SUV class, the Chevrolet Suburban was originally one of General Motors' most profitable and popular vehicles because of the station wagon and cargo hauling combination, which was originally known as the 'Suburban Carryall' when it first came out in 1937.

Today, it still is a full-sized SUV with three rows of seating, a full-sized pickup truck frame, and a V8 engine. It is 20 inches longer than the Chevrolet Tahoe, which makes it capable up seating up to 9 passengers. It is a full version of a workhorse, capable of hauling a family and their luggage for an extended vacation and can still tow a sizable trailer behind it.

When gas prices went through the ceiling, most Chevrolet Suburban lovers refused to give up their Suburban. Instead, they opted for a compact, second car for those short trips around town. Because the used Chevrolet Suburbans lost so much in value because of the drastic incentives offered to move the new ones, most people just held on to them, rather than lose a lot of money. Now that gas prices have come back down, you are seeing more of them on the road again.

Of course, it is a great work truck for those in construction and it is still more popular than most full-sized vans. Because you can get them in four wheel drive, it is a rugged, all-around, full-sized SUV that can handle whatever you need it for. The newer models since 2007 have been re-designed to be more aerodynamic and offer modern styling, like the Chevy Tahoes.

For the 2010 model year, it has been ranked as number one in the affordable full-size SUV class by US News and World Report. It has a premium interior package that has all kinds of nifty features like Bluetooth, tri-zone climate control and rear audio controls. With the 6.0 liter, flex fuel capability of the 2010 engine, it is catching up with the times, in an effort to survive the minimalist automotive revolution.

There are just many die-hard fans that can't bring themselves to drive something less powerful, capable, and versatile, no matter what the fuel prices are doing. It is rated the best of any four-wheel drive model, when it comes to towing capacity, capable of 9,600 pounds on the 1/2 ton models. With the power of the 403 horsepower engine, it can handle it with ease.

The 2009 Chevrolet Suburban received the NHTSA's best rating of 5 stars in the safety categories of frontal driver/passenger and side driver/passenger, tied with the Ford Expedition scores. Safety, handling, power, towing capacity, versatility, and the upgraded interior and exterior designs are what General Motors hoped to keep the legend of the Suburban alive. They originally slated a re-design for the 2012 model year, but that has been put on the back burner with General Motors' reorganization.

Regardless, the Chevrolet Suburban has the power you need when towing and plenty of interior space. If you need a passenger vehicle or a towing vehicle, you aren't going to find much better in a full-sized SUV model.

In the year of 1998, Ford Motor Company revealed a revamped Mustang. The Mustang had long been Ford’s flagship sports car, but in the years just prior to 1999 the Mustang had gotten away from its roots. Although the mid seventies and eighties were fine cars, they looked very minimalistic. By the time the mid nineties came around aerodynamic curves were in, and the Mustang of that era reflected that trend.

Then came the 1999 Ford Mustang. The 99 model took the Ford Mustang back to its roots to celebrate the car's 25th anniversary. In fact, it looked so much like the original Mustang that if a person were to take all of the logos off the car and travel back in time to 1964 (ala Marty McFly), the people of that era would recognize the car as a slightly different version of the Mustang that was taking America by storm.

Of course it wasn't possible to manufacture the exact same car with the exact same technology and put it up for sale. The tri-reflector taillights are bigger than the original ones, and instead of having a gas cap on the rear of the car, Ford paid homage to the original by putting a mock gas cap with the GT logo in the same spot where the original car had the actual gas cap. The long hood and the side c-scoop really finished out the retro look.

One of the complaints from Ford Mustang enthusiasts about this model was the engine change. The previous engine was a 5.0 liter, and it was very popular. The new engine was a 4.6 Liter with 260 horse power at just over 5000 RPMs. Yes, there were sport cars produced in 1999 that had more horsepower, but most of them lacked the rack and pinion steering. And let me tell you, when you step on the clutch, shift, and then step on the gas pedal, 260 horse power is plenty. When I tried this out myself, there was a feeling in my belly that was close to the feeling you get when you start to ride down a roller coaster.

I also got a big kick out of the Mach sound system. The 1999 Ford Mustang GT featured an optional 6-disc CD changer. I could ride for 5 hours and not hear the same song twice.

Not many cars can leave an impression that can last over ten years, but he 1999 Ford Mustang is an exception. I remember the exciting styling, the hard acceleration, and the ability to whip around curves. If you find yourself looking at a used 1999 Ford Mustang GT, you should always check and see if it has been well taken care of. If it has, after you purchase it and experience the feeling of ownership, you will become a Mustang enthusiast.

The BMW 5 Series is the fifth generation of BMWs since the introduction in 1972. The E60 came out in 2004 and has advanced technology, complete electronic controls and other nifty gadgets, but it isn't cheap - the MSRP is $85,500, although that is still cheaper than some high performance vehicles. You can get them in all-wheel drive or rear wheel. Most options are standard, except for a few extras such as full leather seats.

Of course, what sets BMW apart is the high performance reputation, and if you have ever driven a 2009 BMW M5 Series E60, you will know what that means! It has such get up and go that it is easy to see how speeds of 190 miles per hour were reached on the German Autobahn. Handling is superb, due to the electronically controlled suspension.

The E60 was named the best new luxury/prestige car in 2006 by Canadian Car of the Year awards. It gets 17 miles per gallon on the highway at normal speeds. Because it is classified as a sports car and sedan, its competition spans both classifications.

With the 5.0 liter, V10 engine, with 12.0 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing and four valves per cylinder, and 500 horsepower performance, it has tested out in the ¼ mile at 12.83 seconds and hit speeds over 113 mph. Not bad for a car that could be mistaken for an elegant family vehicle!

The 2009 BMW M5 Series E60 has been referred to as a super-sedan by automotive speed enthusiasts and it has an understated elegance with little exterior ornamentation and a matte-finish interior, which actually makes it look and feel more expensive than it is.

With a computerized variable suspension, three-mode settings for comfort, normal or sport and Electronic damper control, the 2009 BMW M5 Series E60 can change images in the blink of an eye.

Whether you plan on drag racing, taking the family to the park or just driving down the highway, you can electronically control the comfort level and handling, which is something few high performance sedans offer. With BMW's reputation, their V10, M5 series, 500 horsepower engine has been assessed as simply brilliant. Of course, BMW believes it is the ultimate technology that delivers ultimate performance. In reviews of the 2009 BMW M5 Series E60, it delivers on everything you would expect in a high performance sports car.

The ability to offer a sports car that doubles as a luxury sedan is something that BMW is the proudest of in the 2009 BMW M5 Series E60. In fact, in 5 Series information, BMW states, it is clear that this is an automobile that does not fit neatly into any of the established vehicle categories. Most owners agree.

A review of the 2009 BMW M5 Series E60 would have to point out that BMW is German Engineering that is tested on the Autobahn and they have now opened a state-of-the-art Aerodynamic Test Center where future cars will be made even more efficient and aerodynamically designed for speed.

With BMW's reputation as a reliable, high performance car, the 2009 BMW M5 Series E60 is one family sedan that can help anybody get through mid-life crisis with ease!

If you are a Corvette enthusiast, you might not even recognize the ZR1 Coupe as a Corvette, in the traditional sense. With a national base sticker price slightly over $100,000, you get standard paint, but have to pay extra for colors like Velocity Yellow, Atomic Orange, Jetstream Blue and Crystal Red. A full width spoiler costs extra. The premium equipment package can run another $10,000 and ZR1 Chrome Aluminum wheels and AM/FM CD with DVD Navigation can run another couple thousand a piece.

While the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is not for the budget-minded, this car signifies the last model year made before General Motors hit the skids. The 2010 Corvette promises to be a concept car that could make the 2009 a collector’s item in the years to come.

There is a 6.2 Liter Supercharged V8 SFI Engine and 6-Speed Manual Transmission included in the base price on the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. The supercharger compressor makes it the performance car that Corvettes are known for.

The 6162 cc 6.2 liters, V8 front engine with 103.3mm bore, 92.0mm stroke, 9.1 compression ratio, overhead valve and two valves per cylinder LS9 is what comes standard. The 7008 cc 7.0 liters V8 front engine has 104.8 mm bore, 101.6 mm stroke, 11.0 compression ratio, overhead valve and two valves per cylinder LS7 is also available. This hardly sounds like a fuel efficient vehicle, that is recommended to run premium unleaded with 91 octane or better rating.

Reviews of the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 indicate that Chevy wanted to stay on top of the high performance sports car arena with its all new-all powerful new engine, capable of producing 430 horsepower. Consumers rate this Corvette high, although it only bears some resemblance to the classic Corvette Stingrays of previous years in the Corvette line.

The Corvette Z06 was voted among Car and Driver’s 10 best, eight years running and looks more like the traditional Corvettes that made the name famous in high performance sports cars. With a national base price a little over $70,000, this model might be a better deal than the 2009 Corvette ZR1. In fact, according to Popular Mechanics road testing, the Z06 is an American muscle car that is considered a bargain that can “blister the quarter-mile in 12 seconds flat”.

For true Corvette lovers, either model is good, but the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 seems expensive in comparison to the same sized motor in the Corvette Z06 model. For those that want a high performance Corvette, you might be better off to go with the Z06 model, as reviews of the ZR1 don’t reflect the $30,000 difference in price tag overall.

On the other hand, compared to some of the other high performance sports cars on the market, you can hardly go wrong with any Corvette, no matter what model. It will always remain a true American classic that represents everything a sports car should be. The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is for those that have the pocketbooks to support it, but for those that are more budget minded Corvette lovers, the Z06 might be a better overall value than the ZR1.
